In the Event of an Accident
Protect the Scene: If your vehicle is not blocking traffic, leave it where it is so that the police office can make an accurate diagram of your location. If you are obstructing traffic, and your vehicle is drivable, move the vehicle away from the obstruction, but leave it as close to the scene as possible.

Call Law Enforcement: Florida Law requires that the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in personal injury or death by the quickest means of communication, give notice of an accident to the police department. Even when there are no apparent or immediate injuries, it is recommended to give this notice immediately so that an official report may greatly assist you later in any claim for injuries or liability is made. Effectively communicate the police officer as to how the accident occurred. Never admit that you are wrong, as you may later learn that you are not in the wrong or that the other driver was equally to blame or even more so. Hasty and emotional admission can prove costly. Fill in thoroughly the information requested in this form and if you have a camera, have someone take photographs of the property damage of both vehicles, the location of the vehicles, and other scenes which may be helpful in the describing how the accident occurred.
